The D-Link DSR-250N … Shack West experiencing a 2 in 3 failure rate currently

We’ve purchased a number of D-Link DSR-250N routers in recent weeks, for use in VPN and VoIP applications.

Shack West is experiencing a 2 in 3 failure rate at the moment, with units either DOA or having power supply issues after a few weeks.

We suggest you avoid these units for now. We’re looking around for a suitable replacement, and we’ll keep you posted with developments.

Update 11/10

The Cisco RV215W Wireless-N VPN Router has proved to be a compatible replacement. The only physical difference is 4 ethernet ports, not 8.

The Cisco units support VPN to the D-Link units, and are cheaper, more reliable and faster to start.
