Why we need an NBN

Shack West recently connected an ADSL service at its new office.

The phone line was already in place, so no-one had to attend to do anything.

But the process with Australian ISP iiNet took 17 days.

With all the political debate around if or why we need an NBN, is this connection time acceptable in 21st century Australia? Is Tony Abbott correct when he says, “25 megs is going to be enough – more than enough – for the average household”?

Shack West’s Ron Killeen had an even worse experience. It took him a month to get 3 Mbps internet from the day of the relocation request. Read Ron’s blog, Twenty Two Days Without Internet.
